Surviving Villalba*

Yesterday Geo and I decided to do something different. By that we mean road tripping to Villaba* under the worst driving conditions in Puerto Rico ( heavy rain, wind and thick fog). We were invited to two parties there and since we are trying to do stuff outside our normal beach-pizza Saturday we embarked in a mini adventure. First it was our newlywed Alba, who thank God, we met there caravan by default in a gas station. I have respect for the woman. The insanest turns in history are on Alba's way to her house. Geo obsessing about falling into the void didn't help. But as always, Alba's ( and now Alex's)family is divine and makes it worthwhile.
Cue to our next party, Tony's, and getting there was better( although our greates fear happened-it got dark). But it's so refreshing to stop and asking for instructions to the locals without the fear of getting mobbed, raped or kidnapped like we have in San Juan. We got there and it was packed!!! Many old friends were there. And if you know Tony, you know we are always having a good time. A shoutout to my sweet friend Lucille, who got engaged on New Years ( something is in the air I guess). My offer of useless information still stands.
At the end of 151 miles we were back safely in San Juan and with stuff to tell...Thanks to Alba and Tony for a great time. See you next year!
xoxo

*Ironically my family's background on my Mom's side are from lovely Villalba

La boda de ella tiene que ser la mejor*

"There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness." - Nietzsche

As many of you know, my friend Alba got married last night. After years of ups and downs, Alba and Alex finally made it and I was honored to be there. Alba was gorgeous, like insanely beautiful and her best accessory was the happiness her smile transpired. I laughed and cried ( Michelle the maid of honor thanked me for taking care her of sister, Alex thanking his mom and dancing to You are So Beautiful) and danced the night away celebrating my dear friend's day. Everything was perfect: the food, the decor, the music, the drinks ( damn the coconut pitorro). If you know Alex and Alba you know that they know how to P-A-R-T-Y and they delivered.I did some drinking and texting: to Mom. I wanted to share with her that I was so happy for Alba and Alex. So, this is post is for them. May your lives be filled with laughter, sex, family, friends and good times .
With all the love in the world ~Your friend Carla *To my non spanish followers: post title is the title for a famous salsa song by Bobby Valentin which means "Her wedding must the best"

Food for thought-Sisterhood

Today somebody made a comment about a picture of Geo and I in facebook that had to with the feelings we have for each other as friends and sisters . Lately, we have been a little emotional due to the fact that she's having a rough time (3 days left, dear) and both tears and tensions are in our sleeve. I felt sorry for the person who made the comment us; she has no girlfriends. It's funny because my relationship with women has been, most of the time, taken for granted. As part of a matriarch family, I was raised understanding and caring for the females around us. And as many of you know I have a magnificent, beautiful full blooded sister ( hi Tania!) and two incredible half sisters, but I found myself in awe by the love of my friends, my sisters by choice. And even when they ask for my help in their milestones ( I get to carry Alba's wedding dress in my car on Friday to the hotel- very important job) to me is in my natural instinct to just be there. So to my future partner in life, I am a flower of virtues but I come with an amazing package difficult to leave behind.

My dream dress for Alba's wedding

Let's talk fashion!!! My favorite look of the Emmys from Olivia Wilde. This is totally my dream dress for Alba's wedding in december. ( well, she is instructing us the girls to wear black-always the romantic). Of course, makeup is done by Geo...
