Busted!-Remembering Ibiza

After weeks of looking forward to the Remembering Ibiza party, today someone asked me how old was I when I started spending my nights there. I found myself lol. I got busted.

Now for the history lesson: Ibiza was the club de jour from the 90's located in the now renovated La Concha in Condado. The hotel lobby was a Liberace nightmare filled with golden angels, burgundy carpents and pastel furniture. But Ibiza on the other hand to us, was heaven. First it was Thursdays with the college kids.I was 16 and my partners in crime were Jenni,Morayma, Beatriz and Ingrid. The excuse to our moms? we needed to do a study session to catch up with some project ( how mom didn't noticed I really don't know- I was in a different school). Couple of years later I switched to Fridays to the Colony party where we danced until dawn. It opened up our minds to the new fresh beats of electronica. Later it was Sunday at Playa Ibiza, the beach after party.Bathing suits required.

How did I managed to get inside was the big question:simple, with the worst fake ID known to mankind. I paid $ 10 for a laminated piece of paper that simulated a Puerto Rico license. Even Tania, my kid sister who was 14 had one. Anyway that fake license was my passport to my travel plans and I was holding it tight. So many nights wondering what to wear, exchanging outfits and looking for cheap places to park( we were in college ,we were not going to pay for parking). When it closed, I was there to pay my final respects to such mystic place.

What made Ibiza special was definetly the music. It was the blood to our club family. It was our utopia.

Now to present times: you could imagine how giddy I got after receiving a small email through facebook saying that Abdullah and Orlin (dj and promoter respectively) were going to throw a little party just to remember the past. I RSVP' inmmediately.

On the night of the party, and after a quick stop at Joel's for some bubbly, I made my way to La Concha. The host at the lobby entrance knew me and as always I didn't made the line. As I entered, I felt something that I haven't felt in a while. I felt young. In the of the mom and pop suburbanites, I realized that I was still the kid. I remembered how I got there at the beginning: my trusty fake ID. I looked for my girls, they were already dancing. I looked around for familiar faces and founded a couple. People that I haven't seen in 10 years. It was great and hysterical at the same time. It felt like 10 years were 10 days ago.

The party exceded my expectations. They played EVERYTHING. C&C Music Factory, The Gypsy Kings, Vico C,Garibaldi,Kabah. Abdullah and Salgado worked the stage and got us, again, for one night only to our musical orgasmic state. Now I'm nostalgic.

I have developed different tastes in my music and prefer more of the lounge scene ( I'm maturing), but Ibiza will always be Ibiza. At the end, I left exactly like years before: blisters, sweaty with no makeup and shoes on my hand ( I know it was disgusting but I couldn't get a cab to drive me to the insides of the hotel's parking lot). The difference: no fake ID for this girl.

Weekend recap

Patty is right, people with hangover are funny. And I was pretty funny on Saturday after a night of maybe too much grapefruit and vodkas. I was fine, suddenly I went dooown. I do remember having a very deep conversation with that guy who is having a textual realtionship with one of the BF's about initimacy. We both agreed that cuddling in more intimate than the actual act of hookey pokey. Maybe it has to do that maybe you are too vulnerable.... food for thought.Anyway, after a rough morning and a lousy afternoon, I pulled myself out of the bed and made my way to the beach to hang with Georgie and Tania ( and her co-workers) to celebrate his 30th b-day( actually it's today, happy b-day bro!!!). I got the most exciting news, I got invited to the Tommy Torres concert by Oscar, a old and dear friend ( I dated his brother years ago). It was great, a shame that Oscar and me are not in love, compared to the couples around us. Sunday was lazy ( I needed the time at home), napped, cooked, usual stuff. I missed a great day tanning, but I'll make it up next weekend.Spend some time with Mia, who always makes me feel better

Pastramito

So as many know by now, most thursdays I enjoy the company of my female friends in an unknown* dive hole in Guaynabo. Lately we have danced to amazing 80's music by a DJ that plays there. So last night was no exception. I was taught the famous pastramito dance move from someone who actually lived through the 80's. Nothing like a small wave hand signal to enhance my dance repertoire. And to my great dance teacher... thanks for a blast from the past.

~xoxo

*Yes ,we intend to keep the dive hole unknown, essence in the place is to precious to make it public

No Orlando for me, but a fabulous night awaits

Artwork:Roses are Red

Acrylic on linen

Artist:Quetzalcoalt

So early in the afternoon, I was told that there was no Orlando. I have to make something clear, not that I wanted to go to Orlando and its amusement parks, but the chance to spend some time with a certain friend, made it enticing.

As they said, when one door closes, another one opens. I got a call from my marvelous friend Jaen with an invitation to an art opening ( Quetzalcoalt)and after party later. After explaining all the details for tomorrow, I thought: Who should I call to share this upcoming evening? Only one person came to mind: Joel.

I have known Joel, for years (since college). He's a rock star in his world and one of the funniest people I have ever met in my life. He lives a wonderful life full of travel, beautiful things and laughter ( I promise to do a post on his apartment, sick). We have shared hookups, bad dates, car accidents, fashion crisis, dead batteries and some other stuff that is not publishable.

So after calling Joel, and exchanging plans (similar but including one additional stop), he decides that our highlight for tomorrow is: checking RR's* blind date ( apparently he is 35, brown hair single guy from Miramar).

So I may not do Mickey Mouse, but I do have a whole night to look forward with a bunch of lovely and fabulous gays...

Condado Friday Night

Shoe porn!!!! ( peep show)
Martini trio
The winner was the cucumber martini in the middle. Nice surprise

We liked this top on the Dior window, but we hated the bottom

Jenni, Beba and I went to the Condado Culinary Fest on Friday and even tough pics don't make justice to the great time we had, we manage to laugh and dance with friends. I bumped into Ingrid, my oldest frien celebrating her b-day and at last met Beba's sister, who is a doll. Great blues band with an amazing singer and rad dj beats. Overall a succesfull night
