This is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Parents should totally identify with this blog.Graphic artist Bill Zeman draws things according to his four-year-old daughter's exacting instructions (ie, "A dinosaur eating a R and an O and an S and a I and a E"), she critiques the results.

Fashion or high art?

Known for his bold, brash style Damien Hirst has been one of the most successful contemporary artists, monetarily speaking. And, if these world's most expensive jeans do happen to sell, his vast artistic fortune will only continue to grow. At the equivalent of $27,000 USD a pair you'd better take out a second mortgage to get yourself into a pair of these hippy, dippy, trippy pieces of wearable art.

Appreciating art

My first positive educational experience in college, was Art Appreciation by the lovely Professor Luna ( later my photography professor). She taught me that we are not capable of disliking art or negative judge a piece, because we have to ask ourselves if I would like someone to criticize my expression regarding something. I try to follow this, even when I have encounter pieces with questionable aesthetics and underdeveloped technique. Being raised by a single mom with a liberal arts major and a progressive approach to the arts, had made me conscious about the progress art makes no matter our human evolution status. I always try my best to support the up and coming artists and I'm open to see the new stuff.

Boing Boing feature an amazing painter called Justine Lai. She made the racy move to paint herself with past American presidents in a collective called Join or Die. Some may cringe, due to the fact that she is in sexual positions with dead P.O.T.U.S's, but in my humble opinion I think it's very edgy to put herself in such vulnerable position for the name of art.

Check it out and open yourself to NOT judge art, we are fortunate enough to just admire and respect the artist expression

Happy weekend~

No Orlando for me, but a fabulous night awaits

Artwork:Roses are Red

Acrylic on linen

72 x 60

Artist:Quetzalcoalt

So early in the afternoon, I was told that there was no Orlando. I have to make something clear, not that I wanted to go to Orlando and its amusement parks, but the chance to spend some time with a certain friend, made it enticing.

As they said, when one door closes, another one opens. I got a call from my marvelous friend Jaen with an invitation to an art opening ( Quetzalcoalt)and after party later. After explaining all the details for tomorrow, I thought: Who should I call to share this upcoming evening? Only one person came to mind: Joel.

I have known Joel, for years (since college). He's a rock star in his world and one of the funniest people I have ever met in my life. He lives a wonderful life full of travel, beautiful things and laughter ( I promise to do a post on his apartment, sick). We have shared hookups, bad dates, car accidents, fashion crisis, dead batteries and some other stuff that is not publishable.

So after calling Joel, and exchanging plans (similar but including one additional stop), he decides that our highlight for tomorrow is: checking RR's* blind date ( apparently he is 35, brown hair single guy from Miramar).

So I may not do Mickey Mouse, but I do have a whole night to look forward with a bunch of lovely and fabulous gays...

* RR is used to protect the innocent
