It's official- I am a consumated geek

I'm going to blame it on Jennifer, who one day turned into Wolverine. Yes, now I'm obsessed with mutants, super heroes, vampires and yummy wolves. By definition I am a geek ( I secretly want to go to Comic Con).

Sunday, I went to see Avatar with Geo (who cried, thank you very much) and loved it. It already has all the special effects won in every category in every award ceremony known to man. Now I want to see it on 3D!!!. In the meantime, I can fantasize that I live in Pandora (which by the way looks very shroomy) with some great abs and no hips in love with some hottie-Avatar-ex Marine with a good
♥.

5-5-09 New Channel ads drop!

The new Chanel No. 5 commercial has just been released, on the fifth day of the fifth month, a date set according to Coco Chanel's own superstitious numerology. It stars Audrey Tautou, who looks luminous.

Joining the Jane Austen Book Club~

I just finished one of my new favorite movies, the Jane Austen Book Club. I was a recommendation from Netflix after a previous rental and got a wonderful surprise Yes, its a chick flick but with wonderful twists and nice endings. But what really turned me on was the fact that the main subject in this film is the works of writer, Jane Austen. For years I had avoided the intricacies of English writers maybe due to the fact that my reading should be a mindless and light, nothing heavy But recently after reading my Booky Wook from comedian Russell Brand and now this movie I think I’m up for the challenge. If some of YOU are in need of an intellectual challenge as well… just two words:book club?
( or better yet book club with wine?)

A woman, especially, if she have the misfortune of knowing anything, should conceal it as well as she can.-Jane Austen

Food for thought

Growing up is mandatory, getting old is optional
-Ivette Velazquez
Ivette, my lovely assistant couldn't said it better.I've been quiet the past few days since I'm out in Surprise, Arizona working the Super Senior National Championships. I came here to work with this lovely people and I got jealous. It is TRULY impressive how active these players are. Keep in mind that these folks are 60 and over. Even when you see the knee brace, bandages and you cannot beat the smell on Ben Gay anymore, you have to give them credit for committing to a team and sport, all of this while having the time of their lives. You wont believe the amount of tattoos. Hilarious! For stories please visit. www.usta.com

PS-I've been working with the loveliest people. A shout out to Tara, Jenn, Fren and Kevin

Coco, Coco!!!

The new poster featuring Audrey Tautou as Coco Chanel was released yesterday in Paris.Never mind that Chanel herself smoked up to 50 clopes a day

Forget the vampires.

I'll take the pack of wolves. The picture for the new Twilight, New Moon, was recently released featuring the vampire's new enemies who fight for the chick's heart ( she is so forgetful, right?).

Anyway all the actors had to prove their Native American background in order to be cast and had to ventured the Pacific Northwest cold while filming (no shirts, only jeans). So move over tweens, I'll see you in the ticket line

Movie Review-He's not that into you

Being single on Valentine's weekend is hard, but nothing makes you feel better that some film therapy, specifically when two gal friends go and see He's is not that into you. This is a must watch for a lot of my girlfriends who need a reality check and stop doing the phone call dissection, the psycho drama and the insanity regarding men. Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Connolly looked amazing and I just developed a crush on Justin Long.

So, if you feel crappy this Valentine's I suggest two things: See this movie, it will make you cry, laugh and have a reality check and two go to Walgreen's: the mayhem of Sad Sam's and chocolate will relieve you from having to caved into corporate marketing

Weekend recap

So I had a very entertaining weekend. Friday started with Geo, Jaen and Carlos I in Jose Enrique with the best grapefruit vodkas the Placita could offer. To my surprise (it has happened twice) I bumped into my sister Tania with the best brother in law in the world Georgie, my fitness guru Patty and the always hilarious Stephanie with people from their workplace. Later we moved into Piropo where my friend Cagiu pitched Georgie an arranged marriage between his son and Mia ( under serious consideration;kid is gorgeous). Then I kicked into responsible big sister gear and went to San Sebastian to pick up Rebeca and Christian. I have to say, her pickup went smooth ( thank God!).

I spend Saturday in bed cuddling with Carmela ( rain helped) and made plans Joel for a night out. After a nice tapas dinner with Joel ( thanks again, babe), Anushka and friends, we headed to Pa'l Cielo for some nice 80's vintage pop music. Hanging with Joel always involves laughter, jokes and some nice people watching comments. Anushka is always sweet and fun, but we need to compliment her for the most original lighter in history, an Agatha Ruiz de la Prada fish.

Sunday was a great day to open the beach office with Geo and we headed there for some "hard work", a ceviche lunch followed ( sorry J!). We made plans to go see Doubt in Fine Arts Cafe. By coincidence, we met Joel,Anushka,Edwin and Carlos Osvaldo. There was no seat left except first row, that we dubbed "first class" in order for us to believe that even at the movies, we are still VIP (didn't work). Movie was great and intense. As always Meryl Streep always delivers, she being the first lady of acting ( in my humble opinion, Cate Blanchett comes in close second).

So this week, posses hard work at the office and workouts ( my knee will behave, my knee will behave,my knee will behave). Very excited for Obama's presidential pledge and the ceased fire truce in Gaza.

So now I'll leave you with some words from Ashton Kutcher's blog on The Huffington Post about the Presidential Pledge: "We have gathered a group of individuals who share the courage to pledge to our president, and the world at large, what it is that they are willing to do, give, or sacrifice, in an effort to help their fellow man. Our hope is that this effort will inspire others to do the same, with individuals posting their initiatives within their communities. This is not a selfless utopian action. In fact it is a very selfish one. By improving the lives of those who surround us we will in effect improve our own.

Ready the go down under with Hugh Jackman

I just came from the Australia Premiere and once again Mr. Jackman stole the show!!!(I'm a Wolverin fan)This epic is a must see for the Holidays. Girls and gays will have an eye fest, very similar to Legends of the Falls in 1994 (a classic Brad Pitt eye fest). Hugh definitely earned the Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine this year. Sorry George, but nothing like a sweaty man on horse and a whip...

I'm a sucker for period romantic dramas

Last night after a nice ceviche fest, I went with Geo and Baby to see the The Duchess starring the lovely Keira Knigthley. Film is the story of socialite Georgina Cavendish, Duchess Devonshire and features her power in politics, her sense of fashion, her affair with Charles Grey and the birth of her illegitimate daughter, Eliza. Among her descendants are the late Princess Diana ( this blogger's favorite) and Sarah, Duchess of York ( through her daughter's Eliza side).Don't miss it
